Love Note....

Hello Everyone!

Sorry for the absence I've had a family emergency that took me away.  I just found out my dearly loved most favorite Uncle has lung and lymph node cancer.  I'm sure he would appreciate prayers and good vibes sent his way...

Getting onto a happier note: my sweet and super talented friend is guest posting today!  I love her craftiness and I know you will too!!  Without further adieu here is Milli's post and if you fall in love with her project please be sure to check out her blog One Scrap Happy Momma for all her other goody projects!  oh and p.s. she sells Close To My Heart (insert big heart smile)!!!

As you know, I'm a moderate card maker - and very sporadic at that.  I decided to try my hand at some Valentine's Day cards this year.  Close To My Heart had a gorgeous paper pack called Heartstrings that I wanted to play with and I'm a sucker for word printed paper!

First, I designed the card in Cricut Design Space.  I used the Artfully Sent cartridge for most of this card.  This is one of the pop-up cards from that cartridge:

And how about that gold foil sticker?  That's left over from my Year >> Noted kit!  I still have a few of those left so don't be surprised to see them here and there.

Although you can change the colors of the layers in Design Space, it helps me to use a scrap piece of paper to designate which color in Design Space equals which paper I'm actually using.  This way I don't confuse my prints.  Of course, it didn't help so much in this case - probably because I didn't look at the color mats cutting when I fed the machine! LOL!

For the front of the card, I used my January Stamp of the Month, This Moment.  Close To My Heart is fabulous in that the Stamp of the Month is usually a month ahead of the holiday that it is useful for so that you get immediate use out of it.  In other words, November's Stamp of the Month was Christmas stamps; January's was Valentine themed.  Make sense?
So what will February's Stamp of the Month be?  A beautiful spring-themed floral set titled A Happy Hello, which could be yours with any qualifying purchase for only $5.
Isn't that a lovely stamp set?  There are some amazing projects being made already with this stamp set!  Here's a quick layout I made:

Until next time,
Happy Scrappin'

Shake It....

Hey ya'll!

I've been mia and I apologize for that.  Honestly I haven't been sure what to post.  I was chatting with my crafty friend/blog mentor Milli and we came up with a plan....
She's going to play along with me on my blog and I'm going to play along with her on her blog http://millermall.blogspot.com/2015/02/shaking-thinks-up-with-pinterest.html . How does that benefit you?  Well, you get twice the fun.  For example, for today's post, she is also creating a fun little project based on today's inspiration so when you are all done here, you can hop over to her blog, One Scrap Happy Momma, and see what wonderfully creative masterpiece she created.  Sounds like fun, huh?

Today's pick was from http://www.jennifermcguireink.com/2015/01/video-no-bulk-shaker-cards.html?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=video-no-bulk-shaker-cards
Since I have a birthday coming up that needed a card I decided to go with that.  I was also feeling lazy so I didn't want to go out and buy confetti so I pulled from my stash and found things that would work and I also used my handy dandy hole puncher and punched some double sided paper.  For the holder of all the shaker goodness I used an old 7 Gypsies photo sleeve thingy and I'm not sure if they are still available but you could also use these http://milipea.ctmh.com/retail/Product.aspx?ItemID=4522&ci=967.  I just put my little ATC and my "found" shaker stuff then folded over the sleeve and sewed up one side to keep it closed.  Then using my red line adhesive I attached my little shaker to the card front.
I've already thought about other shaker projects I could do...like making fridge magnets or making some framed shakers...what ideas do you have?

Don't forget to hop over to Milli's blogat http://millermall.blogspot.com/2015/02/shaking-thinks-up-with-pinterest.html at One Scrap Happy Momma and see what she did to "shake things up".  Did we inspire you?  Let us know!  Leave a link in the comments.  We'd love to see what you created!

An artsy playdate...

Howdy friends!
Today I went to my friend, who I affectionately call Millie, and fellow bloggers house for a long overdue artsy play day.  Here is her blog http://millermall.blogspot.com/
She and I have been waiting since....I think thanksgiving to have a playdate!  Just like Christmas drags by for kids this play date has dragged on and on and today was the day!  I took a slew of supplies.... I packed paint, my beloved http://www.dickblick.com/products/princeton-catalyst-polytip-bristle-brushes/ catalyst brush, (it's pricey but worth every penny), my gelli plate http://www.dickblick.com/products/gelli-arts-printing-plate/, two brayers http://www.dickblick.com/products/speedball-soft-rubber-brayers/my rubbing plates http://www.donnadowney.com/index.php/catalogsearch/result/?q=rubbing+plates, my artguard http://www.dickblick.com/search/?q=artguard&sp_cs=UTF-8&x=0&y=0, dylusion journal http://www.amazon.com/Ranger-Dylusions-Reaveleys-Creative-8-25-Inch/dp/B009MRLEJI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1420854248&sr=8-1&keywords=dylusions+journal, my homemade junque journal http://balzerdesigns.com/Classroom/register/make-your-own-junque-journal-2/ aaaand my Paint Mojo book http://www.amazon.com/Paint-Mojo-Mixed-Media-Techniques-Expression/dp/1440333130/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1420854443&sr=1-1&keywords=paint+mojo
I had intended to make so many gelli prints that I would have a sea of homemade backgrounds and also work on lessons from the paint mojo book and possibly fit in trying to dry and paint a face.  I had so many plans, grand plans in my head about Millie and arting and chatting and chatting and arting LOL.

but then... I met Demi....and well it was over.  She's such a sweet little puppy.  I think we had a connection and she wanted to play with paint too but her "grandma" said no :-(  I tried my best to talk Millie into letting her put her sweet little paws in the paint and walk around on the papers, adding texture and her own marks but there was no budging.  Instead I played with Demi, we played ball, we played racing around the house, we napped, well she napped and I loved on her and all the while Millie and I chatted and chatted and chatted.  A little art was made .... not by me but by Millie.  All in all it was a great day and we decided we needed another play date!  Stay tuned...next time I might actually make something and I will post pictures.
I must end this post with a picture of Demi...no new furry girlfriend.  I mean, look at that face!

2015 & I'm a class junkie....

Happy New Year!  I can not believe it's 2015...seems so weird, but then again doesn't each new year sound odd?  So did you make any new years resolutions or pick a word for the year?  No resolutions here...well not "proclaimed" but I have areas in my life I'm going to work on.

My hubby took vacation for the holidays and we had planned to do staycacation stuff but we ended up just spending a lot of time at home just enjoying being together as a family, reconnecting.  My son even took a break from his, what seemed almost constant, gaming.  We watched tv, talked, the boys worked on models and Lego's while I played with paper craft stuff.  We set up a 4ft and 10ft table in our living room and hung out.  It was the most wonderful, glorious, fantastic time well spent reconnecting.

I thought today I would share with you some classes I'm doing.  I'm still working on my 48 weeks, I'm also doing  metamorphosis, 10x10 canvases in 10 days and Inspiration Wednesday.  All these online classes are by the great Donna Downey and you can find them here http://www.donnadowney.com/online-workshops.html.  I have not been disappointed once with her classes...it's amazing to me how she can teach me (and I'm sure others) through a computer and it's like she reaches through and pulls stuff outta me, do you know what I mean? I didn't realize what "talent" laid within me ....

I'm also learning to make my own Junque Journal by Julie Fei-Fan Balzer and you can find that workshop along with her others here http://balzerdesigns.com/Classroom/ and let me tell you, I've already made my signatures and I had a blast PLUS used up tons and tons of scraps!!!!  I've also done almost all of her "getting started with" along with the stamp carving and I highly recommend those. Julie is such a fun and funny teacher you won't be disappointed!

I'm also seriously thinking of taking Tracy Verdugo's Paint Mojo.  You can check out the details here http://tracyverdugo.com/shop/ecourse/paint-mojo-the-ecourse-the-journey-begins/.  Seriously.
I have her book http://www.amazon.com/Paint-Mojo-Mixed-Media-Techniques-Expression/dp/1440333130/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1420476496&sr=8-1&keywords=paint+mojo
which I intend to start playing with.  I will do my best to remember to take pics and post as I progress with that.

Whew! to write this and re-read it, it seems I'm a class junkie!  hahahahahaha  I do love taking online classes, firstly I can watch them over and over and rewind when I don't understand something and I get to take them in my pj's day or night - I have issues sleeping so this helps those late nights.

So what are your plans for the coming year?  If you're taking any classes what classes are you taking?  One could never be enrolled in too many can they? LOL!!!!

I "deerly" love.....

Hi y'all!  Just a real quick post to show you another week in the Donna Downey 48 Weeks class http://www.donnadowney.com/online-workshops/48-weeks.html.  I absolutely looooved this week!
I'm telling you...gift yourself a New Year's gift and sign up for this class...the whole shebang! You will not regret it.  I know it says 48 weeks but she actually gives us a bonus week so 49 weeks works out to $13.04 a week - that's a bargin if you ask me!
